One of the oldest established communities in the North West on the banks of the Rangitopuni River, Riverhead is a small township full of culture and history. Its name comes from the fact that it is at the upper limit of the Waitemata Harbour - the early European settlers were able to sail as they explored the river and its surrounding bushland. With a school, childcares, rugby club, shops and a busy community centre it is classic New Zealand ‘small town’ with all the amenities withing walking distance.
