Riverhead

Riverhead is a small, historically predominantly working-class town located at the head of the Waitematā Harbour in the north-west of Auckland. The region around Riverhead and the neighbouring towns of Kumeu and Huapai is known for its fruit orchards and vineyards. The Riverhead Forest is also a well-known local attraction, being open for forest walks and mountain biking activities, also hosting the longest running paintball field in the country.

One of the oldest established communities in the North West on the banks of the Rangitopuni River, Riverhead is a small township full of culture and history. Its name comes from the fact that it is at the upper limit of the Waitemata Harbour - the early European settlers were able to sail as they explored the river and its surrounding bushland. With a school, childcares, rugby club, shops and a busy community centre it is classic New Zealand ‘small town’ with all the amenities withing walking distance.

Restaurants: The Riverhead (The Landing) – the historic venue by the Rangitopuni River with stunning views of the river and delicious food. Hallertau Brewery & Biergarten – well know for their craft beer and amazing food.
