Kaukapakapa has its own full primary school, preschool and playcentre serving the families living here. A monthly lively village market is held at the Kaukapakapa Memorial Hall by the beautiful newly established playground. The market offers a great morning out for the whole family with free entertainment for the kids, live music and a selection of stalls including fresh local produce, artisan food and crafts.

A well-known attraction in Kaukapakapa is the Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens that offers a great day out for garden, forest walk, sculpture, and cafe enthusiasts. A 3.5km trail takes the visitors through a variety of garden and forest settings, and past approximately 40 sculptures by New Zealand artists. Kaukapakapa has spectacular scenic reserves with bush walk trails, a series of streams and small waterfalls, offering magnificent views of the Kaipara Coast.
